About
This article explores what makes high school seniors talk about disasters with friends and family. It describes how disaster education, age, gender, and country traits affect these talks. Over 3,800 students from nine countries (Bahrain, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, and Timor-Leste) were surveyed. The results show that living in a low-risk disaster area and having lessons or programs on disasters can lead to more discussions. However, these factors alone don't fully predict if teens will talk about disasters. The study suggests that other influences are also important for encouraging such conversations among teenagers.
